Enjoy an afternoon of poetry with Ohio State Professor Emerita Anna Soter, who’ll read selections from her new book Breathing Spaces. Knowlton School of Architecture Professor Kay Bea Jones introduces the reading, which will be followed by light refreshments and a book signing.

From 1986 to 2012, Soter was affiliated with the English Education and Adolescent and Young Adult Literacies programs in Ohio State’s College of Education and Human Ecology. Her primary scholarship explores literacy and literary theory, young adult literature, and more recently, the kinesthetic and psychological impact of language, particularly through poetry.

A featured reader in venues throughout Ohio with poems published in various magazines and anthologies, Soter continues to write and lead poetry groups in Columbus, teach and serve as faculty mentor in Ohio State’s STEP Program, cochair Ohio State’s MedArts Roundtable Board, and serve as faculty editorial advisor of the College of Medicine’s Ether Arts literary magazine. She founded and cochairs with Fred Andrle and Charlene Fix the Hospital Poets series for Ohio State’s Humanism in Medicine program.
