Humorous Illuminous

Event Phone: (918) 596-7122
The illustrator is a visual storyteller, the trick is deciding on how much or how little of the story to tell. Presented here are works of a narrative nature— some were inspired by story content and commissioned by corporate and consumer publications, while others were inspired by the artist's own whim. These works fall into two categories: those produced before 2007 and created in a traditional manner via airbrush and gouache paints; and those produced after 2007 and created digitally by using special Photoshop technique developed by the artist. Both styles present the artist's penchant for bright colors, whimsical characters, and humorous outlook.McGeehan is a graduate of the University of Tulsa's art program. His whimsical, fun, colorful illustrations have appeared in a wide range of magazines, advertisements, and children’s books for over 30 years. Commissions have come from a variety of publishing firms such as Highlights for Children Magazine, Disney Publications, Weekly Reader, Sports Illustrated, Cambridge University Press, Harcourt-Brace, McGraw-Hill Publishers, and Klutz Books, to name a few.In addition, McGeehan is an actor/director. A graduate of the dramatic training program of Philadelphia’s Arden Theatre, he has performed in or directed nearly 100 theatrical productions in Tulsa, Philadelphia, and Chicago. His production of John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" for American Theatre Company won the Tulsa Award for Theatre Excellence (TATE) in 2013. On stage, Dan has performed with many of the local companies and has portrayed a number of (non-dancing) character roles for Tulsa Ballet.Dan also is the author of several short plays that have been performed in theatres across the country. His multi-award-winning 10-minute play "A Long Trip" is one of the most performed and most honored short scripts in the nation and appears in the anthology "The Best American Short Plays of 2013-2014."
