Stars Go Dim

About the NAME: In Genesis 22, God promised Abraham that his descendants would outnumber the stars in the sky, and we are a product of that promise. We have been given lives and breath, but as surely as the sun rises, so our lives are “like a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (James 4:14). Symbolically, our lives follow much of the same pattern of a star in the sky: they are formed, burn, dim, and die. Conversely, our Creator, who made every atom in the sun, sky, and sea, and who knitted us together, never dims, tires, fades or leaves us in any way. “His light shines in the darkness and darkness can never extinguish it.”(John 1:5). As ultimately our "Stars Go Dim" in this life, we as a band want to point with all that we have to the One who created light and life, the One who steadily shines and sustains. About CHRIS – Vocals, Piano, Guitar: Chris Cleveland is the lead singer and founding member of Stars Go Dim. He has traveled and played music with his family, and brother Michael since nearly birth. An interesting fact about Chris is that he is completely deaf in his left ear as a result of being born with a tumor and has had over 14 surgeries throughout his life. Chris heard the call on his life to use music to lead people into God’s presence about 10 years ago and has pursued it ever since. He is passionate about his wife and two small children and intensely desires to be a godly example and leader for them. He also loves to be at the lake or family farm, any fishing and water sports, and was a pretty accomplished basketball player. He contends there is not another band that could beat his in a pick up ball game. Chris has a degree in Psychology and is the Director of Modern Worship at Asbury UMC in Tulsa, OK. About MICHAEL – Guitar, Keys, Vocals: Michael Cleveland was put on stage for the first time by his parents at the ripe old age of 2 years old. He seemed to have enjoyed the experience, because he has been on stage ever since. Michael came to Christ at age 5, and while he hasn’t always followed the way he should have, he knows there is nothing he wants to be doing more than trying to follow God and be the best man He made him to be. Michael is the lone member of Stars Go Dim not living in Tulsa, and resides in Kansas City with his wife and two adopted daughters. Michael should be your number one choice of teammates on a trivia night and admits he knows too much random information. He enjoys cooking, smoking meat, watching and playing sports- especially basketball. Don’t offer to meet Michael at a coffee shop, he doesn’t partake in the beverage- he maintains he is not old enough! About KYLE – Guitar, Vocals: Kyle Williams at first opened for Stars Go Dim while playing for another band, but was asked to fill in for some gigs after Chris had cut his finger and was unable to play. It seems he fit the bill, because he has been with them ever since. Kyle realized music was a huge passion of his when he was 11 years old. At the time he would write music and perform it with his back to his parents out of embarrassment. It seems the Lord over time gifted him with a comfort in music, to where now he can confidently say he expresses himself the best through music. Among his many voice imitations, Kyle has something he calls his “Radio voice” in which he uses readily and at odd, comical times. He has an odd and interesting love of prison and gang documentaries, to which he reasons, he watches on the outside, as he wouldn’t make it on the inside. Kyle has a degree in both Psychology and Music Business and many people think that Kyle and Josh (also in the band) are twins, or at least fraternal brothers. He lives in Tulsa with his wife and daughter. About JOSH – Drums: Josh Roach who considers himself the 5th lead singer, is more accurately the band’s drummer and percussionist. Josh came to join Stars Go Dim when he was asked to audition. As Josh would say, he knew exactly who Stars Go Dim was - they were the band that took all the gigs in town which left him and his former band unable to get shows. He figured, “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”! Josh gets made fun of in the band for being the “Passion” guy. He gets excited easily and it’s very transparent. He also makes lists for the band, but acknowledges he may be the only one who reads them. Josh loves trivia, sports, and movies. In fact he sees as many movies as his wife will allow, but prefers to see them alone so he is not distracted. Notably, Josh is related to Ronald Reagan, and is told he looks like Kevin Durant. He lives in 20 min southwest of Tulsa with his wife and two daughters.
