The classic screwball comedy features Fred Astaire as Jerry Travers, an American dancer who comes to London to star in a show produced by Horace Hardwick (Edward Everett Horton). One evening, Jerry practices his new dance steps late into the night in Horace's hotel room, much to the annoyance of sleeping model Dale Tremont (Ginger Rogers) in the room below. When she goes upstairs to complain, the attraction is immediate, but complications arise when Dale mistakes Jerry for his producer, Horace. Regarded as the best of the Astaire-Rogers pairings, TOP HAT features famous Irving Berlin tunes like “Cheek to Cheek” and was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
