It’s got a big unwieldy title, for one thing; for another, it stars pretty much every comedian alive in 1963: Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Buddy Hacket, Ethel Merman, Jonathan Winters, and dozens more. The biiig road race the cast undertakes, crossing the entire state of California, has as its prize a biiiiig amount of money, famously concealed underneath “a big W.” But biiiiiiiggest of all is the film itself — shot on 70mm Ultra Panavision and intended to be projected on an enormous, curved Cinerama screen, it’s one of the biggest works of cinema ever.
