Written decades ago in the era of Nazi Germany, Michael Tippett’s oratorio is a powerful call for unity in a divided world. TFO’s debut features the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay and commemorates the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht (Night of Shattered Glass) in partnership with The Florida Holocaust Museum. The work also draws inspiration from African-American spirituals (you may recognize Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen among others), making it a natural fit with selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, which rounds out the program.
