Michael Francis conducts this program that features Tianwa Yang as the soloist in Brahms highly popular landmark Violin Concerto. The program also includes Samuel Barber’s Medea’s Meditation and Dance of Vengeance, which is a one-movement piece taken from a suite of music made from Barber’s music for the ballet Medea, commissioned by choreographer Martha Graham. The concert concludes with one of Sir Edward Elgar’s most personal and autobiographical works, Enigma Variations, the composer’s witty homage to friends and family.
