Silent Movie Mondays: Flapper Era Series

Event Phone: (206) 682-1414
Admission Price: $24.75 (not including fees)
Fun and frolic are in store for June 13, 20 and 27 when leading ladies from the Flapper Era and Jazz Age strut their stuff on the screen. In the works are Cecil B. DeMille’s Chicago (1927) starring Phyllis Haver as Roxie Hart. Screenwriter Frances Marion coined the phrase in the first appearance of a flapper starring legendary Ziegfeld Follies performer Olive Thomas in The Flapper (1920). Charming Colleen Moore stars in the newly restored Why Be Good (1929). With bobbed hair and short skirts, the brash and brave Flappers of the Roaring 20’s listened to jazz music and danced the night away. Unleash your inner Flapper by coming to The Paramount in vintage 20’s attire for a costume parade, have a photo-op in an antique car and take pre-film Charleston lessons in the lobby. All films will be accompanied by the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.

CineClub will follow each film in the Paramount Lobby bar.
