Former student of Robin Wright and Bill Holm Center Graduate Fellow Bridget Johnson will discuss the creation and cultural use of sheep horn bowls and ladles. These magnificent, labor intensive, objects were made by the Chinook people of the Columbia River. Bridget will discuss the technologies used to form these objects, along with the traditional design elements of the Chinook people. She has been working on a sheep horn bowl herself and will discuss the challenges of working with horn. There will also be a show and tell with items from the Burke’s Ethnology collection. This program continues the Burke’s exploration of Native technologies.
