The Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation is pleased to present the XVII Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition, held June 10 – June 23, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The event marks 42 years of Bachauer competitions inviting the world’s most elite pianists to Utah to compete for cash, prizes, and fame.

Chosen from 216 applicants through a worldwide screening process, 36 international pianists ages 19-32 will compete in Salt Lake City for more than $105,000 US in prizes. Since there are no requirements of repertory, competitors can display their personal artistry in music of their choice.

36 pianists will each perform two solo recitals in Quarterfinal Rounds I and II. Twelve pianists will then be chosen to compete in the Semifinal Round. Three pianists will then be chosen to continue the medal quest, and invited to perform in the Final Round, each performing twice with the Utah Symphony in two evenings of concerto performances.
