Join master carver and plaiter Beau Jack Key to learn traditional lashing and cordage techniques. Students will use classic Hawaiian plaiting (flat braiding) techniques to create a necklace and bracelet with supplied materials. We will start with a flat chevron pattern braid on day one, followed by the more complex and coveted 4- or 8-strand braid. Various lashing techniques and clasp options will also be shown. Samples of Beau’s one-of-a-kind finished work will also be on hand for inspiration.
