Gentle Spirit is the creation of San Francisco songwriter Marcus Stoesz previously from the influential Kansas band Paper Airplanes. This new project is a brave step into uncharted territory for Stoesz. Where before he built orchestral homages - this new material is self-reflective, wandering, honest and raw. The self-titled album, due out September 2016, is a rumination in sadness, grief, and the crumbing and reshaping of a relationship. Much of the material was written around the time Stoesz's father passed away in 2013. The result is a textured, psychedelic, dream pop journey into the darker places of human experience and straight through to the other side of lightness and living. For fans of: Pavement, Sun Kil Moon, Idaho, Yo La Tengo, Phosperescent, Devendra Banhart, Constantines.
