Introduction to Clay will teach the fundamentals of working with clay by using three different hand building techniques. Each student will create 3 projects. Students will also learn the basic steps needed to glaze their finished pieces using the studio glazes. First class will be 3 hours and second class will be 2 hours. All tools and clay are provided. Clay studio safety will also be taught. Students are expected to clean up their ara and tools at the end of each class. Students will keep all the pieces they create.
The first class teaches construction of forms using the three basic hand building techniques - pinch,coil, and slab building along with a few simple decorating techniques!
The second class teaches the basic fundamentals of glazing and the nature of different glazes. Here you will prepare and glaze the pieces you madein the first class.
Wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty or bring an apron.
