Thomas Rhett (birth name Thomas Rhett Akins, Jr.) was born in Valdosta (Georgia) in 1990 and is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist (guitar and drums). Being the son of famous country singer Rhett Akins, he was used to seeing country idols like Tim McGraw and Brooks and Dunn around the house and he began his musical journey by learning to the play the drums. He dropped out of college to pursue a career in music and it wasn't long before he got a record deal. His musical style is best described as a blend of country, R&B, and country rock (a sub-genre of popular music, formed from the fusion of rock and country, developed by rock musicians who started using country themes, vocal styles, and additional instrumentation, most notably, pedal steel guitars). He’s had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 18 music videos, 18 singles (14 of which have topped Billboard’s Country Airplay chart), 1 extended play, and he's also written songs for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, Florida Georgia Line, LoCash, Michael Ray, and many other renowned artists. He's received many accolades including a Billboard Music Award (for Top Country Song) and 2 Grammy nominations (for Best Country Song and Best Country Album).
