Sensational R&B and soul artists The Doobie Brothers and Michael McDonald are bringing their signature sounds to the Blossom Music Center!

The Doobie Brothers were formed in San Jose (California) in 1969 by guitarist/vocalist Tom Johnston, drummer John Hartman, bassist Dave Shogren, and guitarist Patrick Simmons. The band's been through many line up changes since then and it currently consists of Tom (guitars, vocals, and harmonica), Patrick (guitars and vocals), Michael McDonald (keyboards and vocals), and John McFee (guitars, violin, pedal steel, harmonica, and backing vocals). Over the years, their musical style's spanned many genres such as rock, pop, soft rock (a sub-genre of pop music that largely features acoustic guitars and slow to mid tempos), blue eyed soul (a term coined in the mid 1960s to describe white artists who performed soul and R&B that was similar to the music of the Motown and Stax record labels), boogie rock (a genre - emerging from the hard heavy blues rock of the late 1960s and largely designed for dance parties - that features a repetitive driving rhythm in place of instrumental experimentation found in the more progressive blues-rock bands of the period), and R&B. They’ve had a stellar career with 14 studio albums, 6 live albums, 9 compilation albums, 36 singles, and they've sold more than 40 million albums worldwide .
